Make up each feed as required. For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds, discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible, always within two hours. We test every product that we recommend to provide the most honest and reliable information about it. While all baby formula has to include identical nutrients to comply with government regulations, we consider a range of options to suit different needs such as soya-based, powder form, and ready-made liquid options. You’ll also find anti-reflux and goat’s milk alternatives. Not all milk is suitable for a baby and, as a result, it is advised by the NHS that you do not give your baby any of the following milks: Whey Protein Hydrolysate (from Milk), Vegetable Oils (Palm Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Sunflower Oil, High Oleic Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil), Glucose Syrup, Galacto-Oligosaccharides (GOS) (from Milk), Maltodextrin, Potato Starch, Maize Starch, Lactose (from Milk), Fructo-Oligosaccharides (FOS), Fish Oil, Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate, Calcium Phosphate, Calcium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Oil from Mortierella Alpina, Magnesium Hydrogen Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Vitamin C, Inositol, Iron Sulphate, L-Carnitine, Zinc Sulphate, Vitamin E, Pantothenic Acid, Niacin, Copper Sulphate, Riboflavin, Emulsifier (Soy Lecithin), Vitamin A, Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Potassium Iodide, Folic Acid, Antioxidant (Ascorbyl Palmitate), Manganese Sulphate, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin K1, Vitamin D3, Biotin, Vitamin B12. If your household has special dietary requirements, it’s worth noting that this formula is not vegetarian, vegan or Halal approved. As part of SMA’s baby formula range, this particular version is Stage 1, which is suitable from birth, but there are also two other options: Stage 2, which is made for 6 months onwards, and Stage 3 for 12 months to 3 years.

There are some concerns about the fact that soya contains phytoestrogens. These are found naturally in some plants. I'm thinking of changing to aptamil as our 16mth old daughter had wind troubles with sma and we found aptamil really helped. Measure the required amount of water (refer to the feeding guide) into a sterilised beaker. Do not add powder to boiling water due to risk of scalding. Not all milk is suitable for feeding babies. You should never give the following types of milk to a baby under 1 year: For the dietary management of colic and constipation, Cow & Gate Comfort formula is made with a blend of tailored ingredients, containing reduced lactose, galacto-fructo oligosaccharides (GOS/FOS) and partially hydrolysed whey proteins. I’m not sure if she is just getting used to the carobel or if she was going to get diarrhoea anyway but is being made worse with it being in the comfort milk which is for constipation. Lactose-free formula is available in pharmacies and shops, but if you think your baby may be lactose intolerant, it's important to speak to a midwife, health visitor or GP. Hypoallergenic formula

It's important to take extra care when making up and storing these products as powdered formula is not sterile and making it up at lower temperatures will not kill any harmful bacteria it may contain.Whole cows' milk is a suitable choice as a main drink for your child from age 1. Semi-skimmed cows' milk is a suitable main drink for children over 2 who are eating a balanced diet. Types of milk to avoid

Baby formula is a great way to help your baby get all the nutritional requirements they need to grow and develop if breastfeeding is not an option. Typically formula comes in powder form and contains cow’s milk. Other variations on the market are designed for babies with lactose deficiencies, soy allergies and to help with reflux. This formula is suitable for babies who are lactose intolerant. This means they cannot absorb lactose, which is a sugar that's naturally in milk and dairy products.

Although it's often described as suitable for "hungrier babies", there's no evidence that babies settle better or sleep longer when fed this type of formula. Anti-reflux (staydown) formula Breastfeeding provides the best start for your baby but if you decide not to, or choose to combination feed, choose Cow & Gate Comfort which is nutritionally complete. Would it be a bad idea mixing carobel with comfort milk? i guess if the carobel was going to give her diarrhoea or looser poo's anyway then the constipation milk would make it even looser wouldn't it?
