While others in the Berghaus range received quite a few negative comments surrounding the waterproof design, this model did not get as many. Yes, some customers still said that they had issues with water leaking, but they were in the minority. Waterproof your feet - banish muddy puddles from your worry list and concentrate on the trail ahead LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE The lightweight Supalite II GTX won't slow you down, with no compromise to performance, durability or comfort. Delivery timescales are based on working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. On top of this, my feet are really wide in relation to their length! So much so; I have split newer shoes where they just could not keep my fat feet from flattening out!

As always, out of the box comfort is top of our list, and with the classic Explorer fit and cushioned OrthoLite® The toe box is scuffed from walking through rough terrain; yet has not broken weakened the leather. On the top of the little toe mound, where the toe box meets the sole; the stitching is starting to come away. Yet no water is able to ingress and the boots structure is maintained by the rest of the stitching across the top of the boot. Meanwhile, incorporated GORE-TEX® technology keeps water out while letting sweat escape, so your feet will never get clammy.Berghaus walking boots are renowned for offering fantastic protection and support. The full range of robust Berghaus Boots offer walkers both comfort and reliability From Helvellyn to the Himalyas, Berghaus has an amazing ability to tap into that feeling of joy and discovery in the outdoors. Even in the driving hail, it’s where we all feel at home. This is the feeling behind Berghaus. From the first shop in the North East of England, Berghaus have come a long way. In 50 years, they’ve used their experience to design, test and develop well thought out kit that’s built to last. Loved worldwide, Berghaus know that the difference between enjoying the outdoors and truly loving it is all down to one simple thing. Ideal Berghaus kit. So I have worn these boots almost every Sunday to walk in the English countryside; as well as weeks hiking in France and Spain. Not to mention countless wet and cold days; where I have worn them to work, shops and friends houses. So as I write, my pair of Berghaus Expeditors are now approximately 14 months old and still looking fresh! Surprisingly, my feet remained warm throughout the day. There was no discomfort even when the Expeditor Ridge 2.0 boots were subjected to hours of walking through snow that came halfway up my shin. Although my special forces trousers were sodden, no water penetrated my boots. I even took the opportunity to stand in a freshwater mountain stream with water around 5″ deep, and again they remained utterly waterproof. It was just over three months ago that my wife and I embraced the world of hiking, and it has revolutionised and reinvigorated our lives. Not a weekend goes by with us not heading out into the great outdoors, breathing fresh air, and pushing our bodies to limits that we would never have envisaged earlier in the year. To prepare for our adventures, we have gone on somewhat of a spending spree, buying Scandinavian-made outdoor clothing and multiple sets of boots, which included the Berghaus Expeditor Ridge 2.0 Boots.

All-day comfort - the streamlined one-piece leather construction with Gore-Tex technology and memory foam detailing keep you in comfort, however long you wear them This boot brings you the features you’ll need to take on all the weather and landscapes the UK can throw at you. For the first couple of miles, the boots did feel stiff. However, this soon became less apparent the further I hiked. The Expeditor Ridge 2.0 boots are more flexible than I am used to, which actually was a significant benefit on the scrambles. Even in my fifties, I found myself able to stretch and find comfortable footholds. Its strong, streamlined construction brings together a surprisingly soft oiled suede shell with a GORE-TEX® lining for durability with dependable waterproofing and breathability, and memory foam at the heel and tongue for outstanding, custom-fitting comfort. Berghaus have upgraded the lightweight comfort with a streamlined, one-piece construction in soft but strong leather that resists water, laughs off abrasions and helps prevent blisters. BREATHABLE PROTECTION Thanks to a breathable GORE-TEX® performance comfort membrane, even the wettest weather can’t touch your feet, while sweat makes a clean getaway.

Plus, breathable mesh panels are a breath of fresh air and OrthoLite® footbeds provide a comfortable cushioned fit Sitting mid-range, the Expeditor Ridge 2.0 boots have everything you need and nothing you don't. Most of the technology you see on these boots is proprietary - with an AQ waterproof lining rather than Gore-Tex and Optistud grip on the outsole rather than Vibram. Don't let that put you off though - Berghaus have been in the game long enough to put together a very good all-round walking boot without using big name (and expensive) third party manufacturers. Hardwearing and durable, supple suede offers feet great moveability whilst the AQ® waterproof lining keeps them dry all day long. Versatility: Berghaus offers a range of walking boot models suitable for different types of outdoor activities, from leisurely walks to challenging hikes. Their boots come in various styles and designs, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs and preferences.Sheer comfort - keep feet feeling revived and comfortable with superb cushioning from the OrthoLite hike foot beds When it comes to hiking and the great outdoors, there are certain names that automatically command respect, mainly due to their longstanding fine reputations. At the top of the pile are brands such as Norrona, Patagonia, Marmot, Houdini, Arc’teryx, Haglӧfs, Fjӓllrӓven and hot on their heels is Berghaus, which is one of the reasons why I chose to review their Expeditor Ridge boots. Traction: The outsoles of Berghaus walking boots are usually equipped with robust and grippy patterns that provide excellent traction on various terrains, including wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces. This feature enhances stability and helps prevent slips and falls. The Expeditor boot is lightweight at only 1020 grams per pair; so they certainly wont slow your pace. With an upper made from scuff resistant leather and AQ water resistant lining; you will remain comfortable what ever the weather. I have walked for over six hours in the pouring rains of the Lake District: Wast Water; and for over four hours in the snows of the Pyrenees: Ibon de Gorgutes and Puerto de Glera; yet my toes remained warm and dry throughout

The supple, top grade suede looks good but also keeps feet feeling fresh, while breathable mesh that’s woven through the outer gives a breath of fresh air when you need it. Berghaus have been designing beautiful outdoor gear for over 50 years and have a reputation of producing quality walking equipment which is built to last. Cushioning around the ankle, tongue and inside the boot is quite soft but in such a lightweight boot it works well over short to medium walks. Weather resistance: Many Berghaus walking boots are designed to be waterproof or water-resistant, which is advantageous when walking in wet or rainy conditions. The boots typically feature specialized membranes or treatments that keep your feet dry and protected from moisture, while still allowing breathability. WATERPROOF GUARANTEE - Wet conditions are off the forecast inside and out, as the breathable GORE-TEX® lining keeps the weather out while setting sweat free.In my opinion, the most incredible luxury available to everyone is in the outdoors. On hikes and walks, I get to see the most astonishing creations freely and, whilst doing so; I’m constantly improving my physical and mental wellbeing. One essential item when undertaking a hike is proper footwear; for this feature, I will be reviewing the Berghaus Expeditor Ridge 2.0 Boots. And for such lightweight walking boots - at 1020g per pair - these are well-built, using quality leather and solid stitching all over. Weighing less than a kilo per pair, the Supalite II GTX won't slow you down and won’t compromise on performance, durability or comfort For this review, I took a bit of a shot in the dark, buying a pair of Berghaus Expeditor Ridge 2.0 Boots online that were just half a size larger than I would usually wear. I wonder when I will have to buy them again? Walking through knee deep snow in the Spanish Pyrenees: Ibon de Gorgutes and Puerto de Glera
