The author is a beginner which isn’t a problem but there is a lot repeat of phrases and I find myself proofing as I go, which makes it a difficult read. Just when you think Sephie and Adrik have found their happy ending, RJ Kane throws in more exhilarating twists. The darkness within runs deep within me as I revel in the violence of depravity for I am King on all I rule and this is hell. As the author wrote, Adrik consoled Sephie , assuring her that she had been experiencing a nightmare and that Sephie was now safe.

The story takes a turn as Sephie enters the underworld which is nothing like the world she lived on. The cold and ruthless Adrik, known as “Ghost” in the criminal underworld, is unusually drawn to the plucky waitress. Sephie, named for the Queen of the Underworld, Persephone, she’s quickly finding out how she’s destined to fulfill her namesake’s role.

Meanwhile, Sephie finds herself inexplicably drawn to the powerful and dangerous man, feeling protected and cared for in his presence. It would be said that she was diligently waiting tables at a bar and was the most preferred waitress for the powerful men of the mafia gang in the city anytime they were out for having a good time alongside their weekly/annual meetings.
