About this deal

Another thing to keep in mind is that the filter will need to be replaced given enough use and time. This isn’t a major problem as the filters are very cheap and you can even clean them a bit to get a bit more life out of them. MetroVac also sells a whole load of other spares as well, from new handles, nozzles and more. Conclusion – Should You Buy the DataVac ED-500-ESD? Hopefully, you are reading this post because you already understand the importance of keeping your expensive electronics dust-free, especially those with ventilation fans. If, however, you still have doubts about whether or not dusting your PC is essential, I am here to assure you that it is. As I've mentioned above, these electric air dusters are quite strong and they should be treated with the respect you would give to any other power tool. They are technically loud enough to warrant ear protection during extended use and should not be used around pets or children under the age of 5. This anti-static dusting system Includes a 3 conductor grounded power supply cord and a grounding anti-static wrist strap that is carefully designed to minimize cling and maximize equipment efficiency. The flagship 500 Watt internal power unit has been further optimised to deliver enhanced power at lower working temperatures. This combined with innovative changes to the internal air channels, creates a powerful stream of fresh and filtered air which can remove even the most stubborn dust.

This electric duster is still guaranteed to last, though. In fact, Canless Air (the company that makes the X3) guarantees a lifetime warranty on this product. This is great because Li-ion batteries don’t last forever and that would otherwise limit the lifespan of this product. To that point, though, the battery in the X3 can last beyond 750 power cycles and only takes about 4 to 6 hours to recharge. Its sturdy and modernized structure is completely redesigned to offer you the most lightweight but powerful office duster in the industry. It features a 500-Watt motor and is ideal for keeping keyboards, computers and other technological equipment clean. Say no to canned air. The multi-purpose DataVac® ESD Safe Electric Duster® is designed to blast dust, dirt and debris off of your expensive tech equipment. Regular use of DataVac® ESD Safe Electric Duster® can help to ensure your office and electronic gear is dust-free and running at maximum efficiency. The new MetroVac DataVac Electric Duster is a greener, more effective and cost-efficient alternative to the controversial "canned air" products currently dominating the category. According to MetroVac the DataVac ESD “is an innovative, green equipment duster”, but we prefer to call it a mini leaf blower for your delicate bits.

Still, an electric duster is a great investment financially and you’re doing your part to help the Earth. Now I just wish I had invested in one sooner instead of using canned air for all those years. Thankfully, if you’ve made it this far, you might not make the same mistake I did. More from Tom's Guide

Say no to canned air. The multi-purpose DataVac® Electric Duster® is designed to blast dust, dirt and debris off of your expensive tech equipment. Regular use of the DataVac® Electric Duster® can help to ensure your office and electronic gear is dust-free and running at maximum efficiency. Worst of all, cans of compressed air are single-use and have to be specially recycled because they are made from steel. Never mind the fact that when you are using them, you are literally expelling greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Not cool. If you plan to do some serious PC case cleaning projects with your electric computer duster, the ED500-ESD is definitely worth the extra cost over the ED500P. If, however, you have other uses in mind, you will probably get a better value from going with the older model.

Highest Rated in Air Dusters

The DataVac is definitely a more environmentally friendly product in that it only requires electricity and air to run, not harmful propellants. However, if we are adding manufacturing into the equation a single compressed air can is probably less harmful than a DataVac, but overtime the electric duster will be much better for the environment. Includes an assortment of ESD Safe/Anti-Static attachments to help keep your electronic office equipment clean and efficient: a crevice tool, dusting brush and more to remove office dust from every angle imaginable. Speaking of plastics, the ED500-ESD comes with a concentrator nozzle, an air-flare nozzle, an air-pin pointer, and an added dust brush nozzle. As previously mentioned, these are made from ESD-safe plastics that do not hold or dissipate any static electricity. We won’t bore you too much with the tech specs, so see the table below for all the information you need to know about peak power, CFM, etc. Construction: The ED500P is a totally capable electric duster, which is almost powerful enough to do yard work. But this is not without its downsides. The first one you will notice is that the DataVac is quite loud. It is easily as loud as a Shop-Vac and if you plan to do some serious cleaning projects with it, you may want to consider ear protection. The other side effect is that this device runs hot after a few minutes of use. Thankfully, the sturdy plastic handle mitigates any discomfort that this may cause while you are using it, though you should still avoid touching its all-steel frame when you use it.

Complete with Air-Pin Pointer, Air Concentrator Nozzle, Air-Flare Nozzle and 4-Piece Detailing Tool Kit. You can also control the force by fitting the smaller nozzle attachment or the “Micro Cleaning Tool Kit” as MetroVac calls it. This is definitely the way to go if you are dusting more delicate components, but there is something satisfying about using the larger Crevice Tool attachment and just blowing a whole load of dust away in one go. Dust is going to get into your PC even if you have a positive pressure system with air filters on all your fans. When the dust bunnies really pile up, they can impede airflow in your PC case and cause components to overheat. You have to stay on top of it before it negatively impacts your PC's performance. And that usually means a costly part replacement to match. The ED500-ESD has a powerful 500-Watt motor and the same 0.75 horsepower rating for its ability to push air out. This device basically sets the bar for what to look for out of an electric air duster. Unfortunately, that also means that the ED500-ESD is quite loud. You shouldn’t use this electric duster around pets or children under the age of 5. It also runs hot but this isn’t a big issue thanks to its sturdy plastic handle. While the ED500-ESD is nearly identical to the MetroVac ED500P, this model is better (and more expensive) because it is grounded, is made from ESD-safe plastic, and comes with an anti-static wrist strap. This helps to prevent damage to your PC’s most sensitive components. But don’t fully discount the ED500P for PC case cleaning, as many users have reported safely using the ED500P to clean out their PC cases for years without any negative consequences.

DataVac Electric Duster.....I love this thing. I just got it the other day and I was so excited. Small, tight and very powerful it actually jumps a little from the torque when you start it up. I am quite the computer geek so it will come in very handy, but I can already see myself using it for all kinds of things.

The MetroVac DataVac® Electric Duster® is a compact yet unbelievably powerful computer and equipment duster. You can use compressed air dusters or an electric air duster on your computer without having to worry. When using compressed air dusters, be sure to pay particular attention to the manufacturer’s usage instructions, to ensure that a minimum of liquid is released. Use them in short bursts and hold the can upright. So you've committed to keeping your PC clean. Great. But how often should you actually open up your case and blow out dust? The answer depends on where you keep your PC. You also don’t have to worry about liquid coming out of the nozzle or shaking it up like you do with compressed air, so that’s another bonus.

This machine carries a Five Year Limited* Warranty.

It has a built-in air filter that removes particulate matter from the incoming air and a variable power control that allows you to control the power of the airstream, making it easy to go light on delicate fans and CPUs. This also makes it easy to regulate the two unavoidable side effects of noise and heat. The X3 Hurricane produces plenty of both.
