About this deal

Sow the grass seed – Spread evenly by hand in small areas or use a seed spreader for larger areas, disperse evenly and not too close together, ideally 5-10mm deep in the soil.

When using a liquid fertiliser, you want to make sure that it won’t get washed away before it has time to work. For this reason, liquid fertilisers can be better suited to summer rather than winter use – you’ll need a period without rain. The ratio will be written as three numbers, for example: ‘NPK 6-5-10’. This fertiliser would be made up of 6 parts nitrogen, 5 parts phosphorous and 10 parts potassium. Large or perennial weeds may re-grow. Persistent weeds may require repeated treatments once new growth appears.Cover – Lightly cover your seeds with 0.25 inch of top soil. We also recommend laying Frost Fleece over your seeds and top soil to act as a floating mulch. This will provide protection from wind, insects, pests and bird damage whilst allowing rainfall and light to pass through. This will ultimately improve growing conditions and germination. Our recommendation for application is to start applying at 35g per sqm in mid-September and to continue this treatment every 6 to 8 weeks while the weather is colder. One thing to note: if there’s no rain forecast, you’ll need to make sure to fully water in the fertiliser yourself. It takes a while, and a fair amount of water, for the granules to dissolve.

Contains added nitrogen for steady growth, phosphate and potash for even growth and with added magnesium and iron to green up your lawn. NPK: 12 – 3 – 9 + 0.5 Fe + 0.8 MgO A micro-granular formulation containing: Total Nitrogen (N) A high nitrogen content is less important for winter fertiliser. However, grass still requires some nitrogen for promoting normal functions and it is not always present in the soil in high amounts – this is why most winter fertilisers still contain a reasonable amount of nitrogen. If you’re hoping to find a fertiliser that will be useful year-round, you will want a slightly higher ratio of nitrogen compared to if you’re using a separate fertiliser for winter and spring (recommended).

However, too much phosphorous in soil can also be problematic. Phosphorous can build up in the soil, and excessive amounts reduce a plant’s ability to take other vital nutrients from the soil. This is one of the reasons why it’s important not to overdo it on the phosphorous front. Raking/scarifying to remove dead moss and fallen leaf debris to prevent the build-up of fibrous material which encourages weed and moss growth. If all of these cultural management practices are followed in harmony with applications of Elixir Complete Lawn, Feed Weed and Moss Killer then the reduction of mosses and weeds can be successfully achieved. Contains: 21.73 % w/w Iron Sulphate It’s best applied with a rotary spreader – a drop spreader can result in uneven application which may in turn cause burnt patches to appear on the lawn.
