I had the first book read to me by my teacher, and she said there was a sequel. When I saw the 2nd book at Barnes And Nobles, and I knew I had to get it. Fantastic sequel to the Wild Robot. Just as sweet and simple as the first, The Wild Robot Escapes did not disappoint! Roz has been rebuilt and is working on a large dairy farm. Typical of Roz, she befriends all the animals (and the children), but longs for her life on the island as a wild robot, especially her goose son, Brightbill. Her kindness to others results in them wanting to show her kindness too and help her return to where she feels most at peace. However, there are a lot of obstacles that stand in the way of that journey! This one seemed a little less 'shiny' than the first one and it took a while longer to engage with the story. It was at the end of chapter 8 when I read the words, "And in a single night, Roz became a farmer," that I settled in and felt engaged.

I love this final chapter about Roz the wild robot and her son Brightbill! Heart warming and full of adventure. Food scientists are already creating meat, eggs and dairy in laboratories, without any animals at all. And some scientists predict all animal-based foods will be artificial in the future. But I’m not so sure. In the future, I don’t think there will be fewer kinds of food, I think there will be all kinds of food: real eggs and artificial eggs, vegetables grown in gardens and in greenhouses and in hydroponic facilities, milk from cows and sheep and goats and laboratories, and food produced with technology that hasn’t been invented yet. I think there will be infinite kinds of farms making infinite kinds of foods. And I thought long and hard about the kind of farm, and the kinds of farmers, I wanted to include in this story. My books have all presented their own challenges, but no book has challenged me quite like this one. I had to develop a futuristic world, filled with futuristic technology and characters and settings; I had to make sure everything was believable and that the science made sense; I had to tell a story that readers could relate to, that was exciting and warm and honest, and use language that flowed when read aloud. There were so many considerations that it seemed like I’d never make it all work. But I just kept going. I gave this sequel absolutely everything I had, and I did so because of you, my readers. Your response to The Wild Robot was so incredible that I was determined to make this sequel meet your expectations. I hope with all my heart that I succeeded. I hope you enjoy The Wild Robot Escapes. So we go from a lush green landscape full of animals and games to streets and buildings and robots working for humans. Since Roz is just another thing for the people there, she gets refurbished and is sold cheaply to a family to work on their farm. My daughter loved the story as written, but I enjoyed that it also raised some interesting questions for us to talk about, like What is our purpose in life? What is home? Can you learn to solve problems without violence? Suffice to say this: if you've got a seven to eleven-year old boy in the house, and if he likes/loves robots, he will prob. enjoy this one. Or a girl! What am I saying here! I was once a little girl and I'd have loved this book! (I said boy at first as it was an eleven-year old boy who told me, Read This.) The chapters varied in size, some were really short, others were long. I quite liked that the author did it this way, it made it all just a bit more fun and engaging to read.

Roz the Robot has been placed on a farm to work as a farming robot but misses the island she lives on with her son Brightbill the goose and her animal friends. Can she escape and go home? Read on and find out for yourself. You inspired me to write my own middle grade children’s book. My sons think it sounds “so much like Peter Brown”. I’m very flattered, but still working hard on the second book in the series, as I try to publish the first. Thank you for your inspiration. I am beyond grateful to you. Actually, my entire family is inspired by you. Aren't we all a little broken and need the loving kindness of others from time to time, a gentle word here and there as a reminder that we matter to someone else? I know I do.

This is my 10 year old's current favorite book series. She is now obsessed with robots, and it has inspired her to learn about robotics. Are you writing a third book? My nieces in Hobart, Tasmania, (Australia) adore your books! I haven’t seen them so excited about a new book as yours ( for quite a while). Love, love, LOVE this book. Roz is the best and I am willing to go on any journey with her, even if it involves pigeons. The first book in this series was a great adventure/survival story and while this one still has adventure elements it really focuses on gently asking the reader to ponder life's big questions, Once I had a detailed outline of the plot, it was time to write. The first few chapters flowed pretty smoothly. But the further I went, the clearer it became that the plot wasn’t as solid as I’d thought. Certain scenes didn’t make sense. There were too many characters. I needed to simplify the entire story arc. I spent countless hours researching and writing chapters that took place in a zoo, only to decide later that the zoo chapters were problematic, and I got rid of them all. I agonized over the names of each new character, trying to include a variety of names, renaming characters again and again, searching for the perfect name for each one.

Hi Peter, Please make more books as we found out about the Wild Robot and then we found out about the Wild Robot Escapes. I really want more books about Roz. You make your books so exciting, amazing and perfect. You’ve taught me how birds fly in formation and that some (most) robots are really nice. My favourite character is Chit Chat because she is like me. I love squirrels and all they do. You make me feel happy, sad, dramatic, angry and all emotions. My favourite part is where Roz is with Brightbill. Its so sweet. Please make 4,5,6 more books!! Being different does not mean being defective, "Or else we're all a little defective." It's good to be in a place where you can truly be who you are at core and not have to hide aspects of yourself. "Every problem has a peaceful solution. Violence is unnecessary." When life is challenging, others appear who will help you. Love of family is abiding. Though it is similar to its predecessor, The Wild Robot Escapes is one of those rare sequels that outshines the original. This second book is better plotted, better paced, and overall just a more enjoyable time. Unlike the setting of the island and countless conversations with animals, seeing Roz in the city, conversing with humans and navigating a future world she’s never seen before made her character that much more relatable to young readers. The farm parts were pretty fun. I loved reading about Roz and how she tried to make the farm profitable again, how she fixed the machines so they worked again. Thanks to her the farm came to life again. And not only that, she even tried making improvements. Helping out the animals around the farm. It was just so much fun, even with Roz missing her family and friends, the island, she still made a new home for her at this place. As was the case in the first book, this second volume once again had cute images throughout as can be seen by the examples I posted throughout the review. Really cool way to make (small and big) readers think and connect. Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information. At this early stage, my editor, Alvina Ling, acted mostly as a sounding board. We’d meet for coffee, I’d explain my vision for the story, and she’d share her expert opinions. Then I’d scuttle away to continue working on my own.

The Wild Robot Escapes (The Wild Robot 2) by Peter Brown

However, Roz had an earlier life (first book), and the life she had there - which I will not go into - is still part of her big robotic heart. (Yep, Roz has feelings, developed from the 'instincts' with which she was programmed.) She's existing in a continual tug-of-war between the farm, farmer and his children AND her earlier life elsewhere. Sequel to 'The Wild Robot' by Peter Brown, so I can't say too much that might reveal things about the first book, but...My name is Abby and I’m 14 years old. When I was 6, I didn’t know how to speak English and the culture of America. I love to read any nonfiction books, especially history one. I read The Wild Robot and The Wild Robot Escapes. I read these books because I attended the book club at my middle school in Illinois. For your next book, I would love if you put Brightbill finding his mate and the bad guy might be looking for the goose. Also, It would be great if you put Roz adjust the island. I hope you love my suggestions. If you do, please let me know. By the way, I love your second book.
